BreathLinkTM is a mobile point-of-care system for the collection, concentration and analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in human breath. It can be used anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. A person breathes into the instrument for two minutes and their breath VOCs are rapidly analyzed with a gas chromatograph with picomolar sensitivity (parts per trillion). The encrypted information is uploaded through a cloud application to a central laboratory where the chromatogram is analyzed with proprietary algorithms and a report is sent back to the point-of-care within minutes. In multi-center studies, the BreathLink system has accurately identified women with breast cancer, abnormal mammograms, and pulmonary tuberculosis. BreathLink is currently being evaluated as a predictor of breast cancer in a multi-center study funded by the National Cancer Institute.See https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02888366 and http://www.cbsnews.com/news/on-the-horizon-breathlink-cancer-breath-test/.This is a blinded study targeted to obtaining FDA approval, and will be completed in 2018. The BreathLinkTMsystem has a CE Mark in Europe. |
